Play Performance Program

About the Play Performance Program

Two women dressed as characters stand back-to-back against a green leafy backdrop. The woman on the left is dressed with a black hat, long black dress, and white fur jacket. The woman on the right is dressed with a blue dress, white apron, black tights, and ballet flats.

The play performance program is for ages 8 to 16. In this program, participants go through the process of putting on a real production - step by step! After being cast in their roles on the first day of class, actors spend each week rehearsing - learning blocking, character development and stage technique. Then, they perform the play for the public with props, custom costumes, photography, sound, lighting, and makeup. Class fees cover all expenses.

Some elements that make our program unique compared to other, similar programs are:

  • Every participant receives a significant role in the production

  • Director Chelsey Kolenda is an experienced educator, and utilizes proven teaching techniques to bring the best out of every child in a nurturing, supportive way

  • Our productions are not musicals

  • We write our own scripts based on classic stories in order to best fit each cast

  • Our company is inclusive and open to all children

  • We keep our class sizes small so that actors can be fully known and seen both on and off the stage

  • We value the work and growth that happens off stage just as much as the production shown on the stage
